Emergency Closure Procedures
As winter is upon us, it is important to remind our students and families that the district recognizes the possibliity of having to close the school because of weather and road conditions, and other unanticipated circumstances. While it is rare that the school is closed, or a school day cancelled, we know that there will also be times when the opening may be delayed so that everyone can travel to school more safely.
Parents have an important role in these decisions, too. Should you feel that for whatever reasons, your child should not be attending school on a given day, that is your choice. We respect and understand your decision, and just ask that you follow the same procedures you would on any day your child will be absent.
District policy states that if we must have an emergency closure we will inform people early in the morning through the use of our local radio stations and other methods. Please know that these decisions are often based on advice we recieve from the Borough, Department of Transportation, State Troopers, Weather Service, the Bus Company (BBC), and other state and federal agencies and we appreciate their support and guidance.
