Congratulations to all the teachers nominated by students, parents, and members of the community to be our Teacher of The Year Candidate for 2011. Watch our website in the next two weeks as we recognize all of those who were nominated, and announce the District winner on March 11.
Student Council
The Student Council has been meeting regularly this year and taking a very active role in our school. Officers and representatives from all high school grades have helped pull together Pep Assemblies, a Principal Recognition Day event, and the annual Christmas Party for high school students. Student Council representatives attended the Fall AASG (Alaska Association of Student Governments) Conference in Palmer, and they came back to host an assembly to support AASG's efforts to 'Ban the 'R' Word. This is an effort in conjunction with Special Olympics Alaska to bring awareness and sensitivity to support people with disabilities in our schools and communities. We are also thankful for the Student Representative to our School Board. Anna brings a perspective to the Board that our administration and Board needs to hear and she advocates on behalf of all students k-12 to make sure they have a voice in these important meetings.
