Welcome!  I am so happy that you are here!  This website was started as a positive link between school and home.  I hope that you will find it a useful tool to assist you in keeping informed of classroom happenings.  Some pages will change weekly while others may stay the same.  I've also included the first grade Spelling Lists (Literacy Place and Saxon) so you will be informed ahead of time what words your child will be expected to study.  In addition, you will find links for Reading Tips for Parents and Reading Styles and Strategies that will give you some insight into your child's reading abilities.  Homework is an important part of your child's day.  It reinforces the skills and concepts covered in class. Our daily schedule is also posted on line.  If you would like to volunteer in our classroom click on the previous link to see all the possibilities.  Included are draft versions of the Alaska Grade Level Expectations (GLE's) for Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.  Finally, I've included some interesting websites for parents, teachers, and students.
